When working with a horse, we are asking them to be our friend, our partner, to give a mutual trust in one another. This cannot be done by force or based on fear. We are asking a 1000 lb. animal to trust us, to carry us, and to walk with us throughout life. In return we ask for permission in kindness without force.
This is done by a light touch, a slight squeeze of the leg or a gesture with our bodies. The slightest change in our posture, whether on the ground or in the saddle, is telling the horse something. This is learned from the ground up.
It is up to us to learn how to communicate with a whisper and listen for the breath of a response.
Lessons are available at a private barn in New Richmond, WI or at your place within about 60 miles of Ellsworth. Call today or send me a message to set up an appointment!
In the picture here a mother and daughter learned this lesson by one being the horse and the other being the rider, learning how to give and take to pressure to create softness in the rider and keep the suppleness in the horse.
Riding a horse is more than just sitting on a horse, kicking it to go, and pulling the reins to turn and stop. Learning to be balanced and move with the horse improves your communication with each other.
Whether you have your own barn or boarding at a facility, horse training can take place anywhere. Availability is limited, so contact me to see how we can work together to create the partnership and friendship between you and your horse.
Whether you have a question or comment, I look forward to hearing from you. Feel free to send an email for more information. Or call to setup an appointment with Jessi.
