Equine assisted learning teaches us about understanding how to be a part of life by building relationships with our equine friends. By developing horsemanship skills and learning to ride we explore the world of horses through interacting with them and can learn how to build relationships, improve coping skills, develop respect for others, gain self-worth, and so much more. Prior to riding, in-hand instruction is taught on the ground. This teaches how to create a relationship safely with the horse. In doing so, this brings up conversations about how we conduct ourselves in life and the skills needed to self-regulate and stay grounded. Through these interactions consumers will have the opportunity to explore self-care, motivation, empathy, active listening, and countless other skills.
This is a horsemanship and therapeutic riding-based service that focuses on skills, wellness, and psychoeducation. This is more geared towards those consumers who are not interested in the therapy component OR need/want more of a skills-based service. Please note this IS NOT riding only. Consumers will learn basic skills working with the horse on the ground and in saddle by way of discovering their own emotional regulation.
